Spearfishing cornwall 2009 highlights

Footage from the whole of the 2009 spearing season in cornwall. Diving is done from either a kayak or from shore. The only fish taken were for personal consumption which is why there are plently of fish left alone, only filmed. Music by Scott Matthews "White feathered medicine"

can you do this in winter time in devon/cornwall with the right wetsuit?

@MrEinZwei Yes but the fishing is a little empty and the vis is not as good. You do still get the fish but rarely. I tend to stop in dec, possible jan if the weather holds out and start again v late march/early april.

ive been diving south devon and only good fish so far is a  7pound mullet

@jackhaytread Been doing ok this year.  Had 5 bass last week from one of the spots on the video. Not done any filming yet though as my camera stuffed up.

Great footage, i love spearing, live on the south Devon coast and get in as much as i can. Awesome skills and patience there mate! How much lead do you carry? Negatively buoyant or neutral?

@bienn69 spear gun needs vary far more on the species you are hunting more then "conditions" you wanna base your choices off of the species types and environment your hunting- example- slightly different choice for hunting yellowtail in the kelp then yellowtail offshore on patty in open water- but you do not make choices based on conditions unles your using 2 man length pole spear lol lol which unless huntig 1,000 lb game like marlin 1,000 lb tuna is gay use big pole spears

@PurebredLondon i'm a uscg 100 tn masters licensed captain and captain of research vesels for the gov't now, former fishermen, and still sport fisherman even though not fish for living and still spear fish constantly even on breaks at work on oatys offshore. preach peta propaganda bullshit somewhere else not my first bbq heard it all before. and lotta people felt same this is spear fishing video we came to see spear shots not a peta documentary. change title or get used to dissapointed people.

@bienn69 any size is cool i use a 95cm and the water is bloody freezing i live in perran and even at the height of summer the atlantic bites your face off :)

Great vid - watched it many times. Spent the weekend around the Lizard as the weather was blowing from the west. Good fun going out but the viz was non existent because of the plankton blooms.

What's the best time of year to hunt Bass, are they seasonal? Do they come into the shallows more round July time when its a bit warmer?
