  • I just bought some new Audioengine A2 speakers in black hooked up to my MacBook Pro. I'm thinking about buying the D1 and am curious how much better it will make my music sound? Because as of right now just the A2 speakers alone hooked up to my MacBook Pro....sound AMAZING !!! what would the overall improvement be ?

  • @sdcaljoe In most cases it will make your setup sound better then what you would hear when using your internal sound-card. Especially with high resolution files. All your audio will sound clearer and more dynamic. Don't forget we have a 30-day audition period through our webstore.

  • Asynchronous USB transfer mode and jitter reduction seem to be the current buzzwords. What is your opinion, where does this fit in the bigger picture and what design choices did you make in this particular product (which certainly looks nice)?

  • @deadlock2001 The D1 operates in what is called "adaptive" mode, which offers most of the advantage of asynchronous mode, without the higher cost. The "proof of the pudding" so to speak regarding the affect of jitter on the sound of a DAC can mainly be understood by looking at the distortion spec. The D1 has lower distortion than most DACs in the industry today, even those costing many times more!

  • @deadlock2001 thanks

  • @Muldoonite Aphex Twin - Flim

  • what's the song that plays in the background?

  • @audioengineUS Thanks for clarification. Indeed, one would think there are more factors involved than just data transfer mode. The distortion (or lack thereof) is what counts, although sometimes certain artifacts can sound 'better' than others. I've just ordered the D1 from a local reseller and I'm looking forward to use it with my A5s!
