"FOR THEIR OWN GOOD" "The White House Boys-An American Tragedy" a book by Roger Dean Kiser which exposes the beating, floggings, rapes and murders of many boys while at the Florida School for Boys at Marianna.
when i left dozier the superintendant was a man. idk anything about a woman ever being the superintendant. the school was great, but the program was deplorable.
i was in dozier for three and a half years, finally getting released in 2006. i'm 22 yo now, and i've been to the white house. not inside mind you, but i've heard the stories. they are still EXTREMELY corrupted there, one example being one of my own, where the reason i stayed there for so long is that they kept giving me more and more time and my "sentence" because i didn't beliive in god at the time. the staff has put their hands on me several times there, and it's about time someone spoke up.
To think that scumbags like R.W. Hatton and Troy Tidwell actually made bets and bragged about their ability to draw blood with the first strike -- and they hit people dozens of times at a time!
To think they did this to children and teenagers is unconscionable
Words cannot adequately describe the intensity of the pain inflicted by these floggings. In my own case the nightmares lasted well into my thirties. The only factor that mitigated my own torture was that I'm not black. The black kids never walked out of the White House on their own two feet they were dragged unconscious or semi-conscious.
I've heard bad things about children's homes but that takes the cake

@bcrocker33 What I wonder is how Hatton treated his children. He had several. I also wonder if he had a criminal record...

The worst guy there was R.W. Hatton. Part of me wonders how many kids he killed during those beatings. Could easily be dozens.
I'm not exaggerating here, he could have easily had some serial killers beat.
