American split peas are green. These look like chickpeas or garbanzo. What is it?

@aka4512 Thank you. I will try to add chickpea flour. Thanks a lot for suggestion. And I use blendar when I grind the dhall.

@AthmanAKS add a little bit of besan or chickpea flour to it. what this does is it soaks the excess liquid and becomes sticky enough for the vada to hold. alternatives for a food processor are a wet grinder and blender if i'm right.

Mam, whenever I try to make vada, I end up preparing bonda.....(btw I am bachelor in US:-) Even I add water little by little, at some point the consistency breaks out and the shape never comes....What is the reason...Also if we don have food processor then what is the alternative?

You can get split peas that are yellow or green. It looks like chana dall. It is also available in Indian stores. I think green split peas should be alright , only the vadai color will be green. In India only chana dall is used but I prefer split peas because Vadai come out crispy.
