@raiki15 Yes, there were litteraly hundreds of extra rooms full of hackable computers and junk throughout the whole game. After a while, I ended up skipping most of that crap

@smudboy After playing the first mission, you'll see that playing with the highlights off, for the sake of exploration of the level's content, amounts to boringly inspecting dozens of cluttered laboratory/office tables in search for tiny data chips, snack bars and other small objects to make sure you don't miss any along the way (and you end up missing half of them anyway). That, and realizing halfway through the game that you can open desk cabinets. Then again, one can enjoy it, so options FTW!

if object_highlight==true {
//insert all the highlight-related code here, which is already done
}
if show_locator==true {
//insert the code responsible for showing the objective locator on screen, already done too
}
That, and a few lines for additional buttons in the menu to enable/disable these options.
It was kinda irritating when they said they took a big risk for us with this. But oh well, marketing is marketing.
Also: one of the greatest games I ever played.

Turns out the highlighting is better off turned on. Compared to the old Deus Ex, this game has tons of little details in the environments, so it's really hard to find all those little items placed all over the map. When I replayed the first mission again with highlighting on, I found twice as many things because I was able to spot them easily. I just wish I could disable that grid overlay thing, it gives me the feeling that my monitor is really dirty.
Anyway, thanks for listening to us, Eidos!

This is the first game I have purchased in about five years. And this is a pre-order too. The game looks awesome. If you can turn off the highlighting and objective markers, why not the radar too?

Eidos earn such big big big respect points for doing this.
Cannot wait to purchase the biggest best collector's edition for DX:HR.
Don't care how much it costs, it's all worth it thanks to you guys Devs.
I fucking love developers and companies like you.
Thanks,
From the PC.

Probably gonna keep the Objective Locator on, stop from stumbling into it before I'm done exploring. +10 internets for responding to the community.
Listening to the customers is key, congratulations Eidos.
It's always good to never forget who is in charge, us.
Got it pre-ordered!
