Trailer from the dance drama: Akkamahadevi Her search for Shiva's Love. Akkmahadevi was a 12th Century Indian woman who sacrificed everything for her heroic ecstatic love for Lord Shiva. She left her husband and cloths behind for an uncompromising love of her divine husband the Lord Shiva white as jasmine. The Brahmins, Buddhists and Jains of India saw woman as impure and inferior beings who could follow the high path towards salvation. Akkamahdevi's nakedness and whole life embodies a total rejection of the very idea of womans impurity. She is the most radical female martyr in Indian tradition.
