Battlefield display demo @ yeovil airshow 05 including a couple of harriers and a merlin & chinook doing vehicle drops. (the merlin kicks the chinny's ass for speed and delivery!!)

The ramp has since been modded on the Mk. 3

An lol, the Chinnie isn't exactly amazing, hence why they're referred to as 'broken bananas'! =P

But they are both awesome to look at.

and totally random, blade tip to blade tip from front to back, a Merlin is actually longer than a chinook! And the Mk. 2 Merlin will be even longer again!

i'm in the raf based at raf odiham.

boththe chinook and the merlin are excellent helicopters.

but the merlin dowsn't compare to the chinook!

don't get me wrong, the merlin is a very good helicopter, but it's just little things that make the chinnie so much better. e.g. the ramp on the merlin is far too steep.

. they are generally heavy duty reliable successful helicopters. RAF helicopters! nothing to do with the army lol!
