Martial Arts Odyssey: History of Silat Kalam

Grand Master, Guru Dr. Mazlan Man tells the Brooklyn Monk how Silat Kalam came to Malaysia, from Persia. The Guru also explains the connection between Silat Kalam and the Sultan of Kedah.

Historically, the Sultan of Kedah is credited with having spread both Islam and Silat Kalam to the common people of Malaysia.

The current Sultan of Kedah is poised to become the new Agong (highest Sultan) of Malaysia in December of 2011.
