Edit: A comparison of Shadow and Kovu

Alright, I finally felt like replying to this.This post contains quite a few spoilers... You see, Shadow had always had a horrid past, much of which is revealed in Shadow The Hedgehog. For one, even before he crashed to Earth at the end of SA2, he had memory loss of the events that had occurred several years prior on the Space Colony ARK where he murdered hundreds of people on board, including scientists and their families. Among those killed was Maria Robotnik, which brings to realization a huge connection point to Kovu (from the Lion King II) and Shadow: Kovu was close to betraying the trust of Simba's Pride, but was speculated of crimes before he had the chance to prevent scarring his innocence. Shadow, in comparison, doesn't even know that he has committed these acts of high treachery to those he cared about... Until he learned (In one of the Hero Storylines) that he was the cause of Maria's death, for which he laments upon greatly and to which he agrees to kill himself if the Commander was telling the truth. In such ways, both Shadow and Kovu were technically innocent or regret past grievances.

Eggman and Rouge trusted Shadow, Eggman more-so than Rouge, in SA2, and after the events of SA2 and Sonic Heroes, the world seemed to show more acceptance towards Shadow. However, in SA2, Shadow was the one who caused the ARK to head for Earth on a crash course, which Sonic and Shadow had to stop in their Super Forms. Kovu, in slight comparison, triggered the final confrontation between Simba's and Zira's prides, though this was unintentional. Prior to this, he had tried to build up trust within Simba's pride. The both tried to fix their mistakes, however, and thusly they can be compared in such a way.

Like Kovu, Shadow had a figure whom held prejudice toward him: The Commander of GUN. For Scar's mistakes, Kovu was severely punished by Simba. Since it is still undetermined if Shadow is the android of Eggman or the original (which it is more than likely he is the latter), he was affected by the transactions of a figure he cannot even remember (Kovu, it is inferred, never met Scar).

Though it is not in the song "One of Us", Kovu is expelled from Zira's pride as well as Simba's. In a likely matter, Black Doom casts Shadow aside once he has the Chaos Emeralds, trying to feed him to the monster's parasitic children. Shadow and Kovu make their final stand, however, attempting to end the problems they believed they cause.

sonic would never of needed to be a hero because shadow is age-immortal he would of been defending the world from everything, and best bets is that eggman would be a good guy cause his grandfather and sister were not killed

The commander thought of shadow as a weapon, not a living creature and had he not existed, G.U.N wouldn't have attacked the colony in the first place. Therefore I belive the commander blamed shadows very existance for the attack on the ark. Or he could of been misinformed, I'd imagine the ARK incident is classified information. Besides in SA2 he was cronnologically frozen by the military until Robotnik (Eggman) woke him up. All in all Shadow killing everyone makes no scence what so ever.
