What is the theological basis for Jews to begin sacrificing animals again?

They will trust the antichrist and believe he's the messiah. After Gog/magog happens at the beginning of the trib, they'll build the temple. Then, it will be revealed to them at the abomination of desolation that the person they thought was the messiah is really the antichrist. They will be sacrificing in vain up until then, but it's for the purpose of bringing them to the truth.

Yes, most Jews do not believe that Jesus is the Messiah. That's why Jesus offered salvation to the Gentiles instead. Eventually, a remnant of Jews will realise their error, then they will accept Jesus as Messiah.

@firecharger I already know the Jews rejected Jesus. But I am wondering if they are still looking for a messiah at all right now. I know they eventually will weep at the feet of Jesus, but what is the purpose behind this temple movement? Is it to reestablish the Mosaic sacrificial system?

yes, they're trying to revive the sacrificial system because they don't believe Jesus replaced that system. Also, many of the orthodox Jews believe the Messiah is about to come on the scene.

@RobertMOdell since they do not believe Jesus was the son of God, they sacrafice animals to God the way as abraham and other old testament Jews did. Its what they still believe is right, but we as christians who believe Jesus died for our sins do not have to sacrafice at the altar anymore. Jesus was the ultimate sacrafice for our sins, and has saved us from eternal destruction!
