Another of Galli-Curci's later records, this was composed by André-Ernest-Modeste Grétry. Lily Pons also made lovely recordings of this aria. Victor recording, December 13, 1927.
Pons certainly did admire Galli-Curci. There is a photograph of the two together as well as a photograph of Sutherland and Galli-Curci, whose admiration for one another was mutual. Pons made two recordings of this aria, and in some ways I prefer her performance to Galli-Curci's since it is more brilliant though less fluent.

I guess Pons made three recordings of the piece. I wasn't aware of the early Odeon recording you mention in the liner notes.

It seems that Lily Pons was very fond of Galli-Curci. She inherited most of her roles and sang them lovely. Though not has good as Curci's recording.
