The World Strongest Man competition 1992 in Iceland. It was a great battle and probably the tightest competition for the World Strongest Man. Magnús Ver Magnússon won in 1991 and was the favourite in his homeland. Jón Páll Sigmarsson is an expert for the television this year, but he died in January 1993.

Here you can see the second part, the deadlift.

About the event:
Here you can see the competitors in the deadlift. The deadlift is very famous event. The competitors have to lift the weights and lock out their knees, otherwise their lift is not legal.

Competitors:
Ted Van Der Parre (Netherlands), Magnús Ver Magnússon (Iceland), Jamie Reeves (Britian), Gerrit Badenhorst (South Africa), Gary Taylor (Britain), Henning Thorsen (Denmark), Gregg Ernst (Canada), Ilkka Nummisto (Finland), James Perry (USA) and Ilkka Kinnunen (Finland)

Just like to add that Ilkka Nummisto is 48 years old in this competition!

  • "There is no point living if you cannot deadlift" Jon Pall Sigmarsson.

He died doing what he loved, way to go out.

  • I love watching Badenhorst deadlift. He always made it look so easy. He is my all time favourite Strongman, and easily the strongest man to never win the WSM title.

  • yeah, I wish OD would have won in 90

  • OD WILSON WAS NEVER A GOOD STRONGMAN

  • @Maddolis You are absolutely right about Wilson. I didn't think about him because I've always just considered him the winner that year anyway. He really WAS the strongest in that competition, and the last event was just stupid. Running with a load of bricks?! Ridiculous.

  • ... sorry *if the last event* wasn't such an endurance event.

  • @AUXRUNNER42 Perhaps, but you could easily say the same for OD Wilson, who probably would've won it in '90 if it wasn't such an endurance event.

  • @mickeybarber heart attack

  • Thank you. It's great to see Ted van de Parre in action after so many years

  • in a documentary his sister said she talked to him 1 month before he died and he said he had really high cholesterol and looked it in his face she also said he didnt want to go to the doctors because he didnt want the gossip, or his secret to slip out. his blood pressure was also ski high as he was also building a new gym and was running out of money, and had split from his wife, his personality had changed drastically his wife said, wonder why? he also refused to be drug tested in iceland comp

  • what a legend

  • I guess many just think he died to young :).
