Changes - Chapter Eight

(Jacobs P.O.V.)

I sighed and grabbed my phone. Im gonna call her. I went to my contacts and found her name. I stared at my phone for almost 5 minutes before setting it back onto the table. I grabbed it again and it started ringing; scaring the hell out of me. I laughed at myself for being so jumpy but my laughter died when I saw who was calling; Josie. I sighed and answered the phone.

~Hey, babe. Whats up?~
~You were supposed to call me an hour ago! Why didnt you call me?!?!~
~Oh, sorry. Guess it slipped my mind.~
~Slipped your mind?!?! Well, dont I feel special! I cant belie-~
~Look I said Im sorry. I have to go, ok? Bye.~ I hung up before she had a chance to complain about it. I grabbed my keys and ran down the stairs; wanting to go to Sophies while I had the nerve. But when I opened the door Austin was standing there. ~Ummm, Hi?~

~Whoa. Howd you know I was here?~
~I didnt? I was going somewhere. Whats up, man?~
~Where you going? Anywhere Id wanna go?~
~Um, no. I dont think youd want to go where Im going. Its not a place you would like.~ I tried to make a dash for my car before he questioned me but he grabbed my arm and stared at me.
~Where are you going? First you ask me to go to Sophies for you and wont tell me why and now youre going somewhere and wont tell me where. Whats going on?~ I sighed an glanced over at him.
~Fine. Ill tell you. Lets go inside.~ I motioned towards my house and he started towards the house. I opened the door and went up the stairs towards my room and he followed. I threw myself across my bed and covered my face with my hands. I heard him sit in my desk chair and I uncovered my face.

~Okay. Well, yesterday Sophie told me something~ I looked over at Austin and he looked clueless. ~Okay? Well, what did she tell you?~
~She told me that- she told me she loved me, Austin.~ His eyes widened and he stood up. ~Oh wow, man. Thats big. What did you say? Oh no, thats why you didnt want to go over there. Wait what DID you tell her?!?!~ He was talking extremely fast. I stood up and looked at him. ~Sit down and chill out. And I told her I didnt feel the same way and I left and Hey do you want some pizza. I think I-~ He grabbed me by the shoulders and I could see the anger on his face.
~You did WHAT?!?!?! Man, you DO feel the same way about her! Whats your problem?! Wait thats why she looked like shed been crying. Oh man, why d-~ He had let go of my shoulders and started pacing around the room.
~She was crying? Oh my God. What have I done?~ I groaned and buried my face in my hands. I didnt want to hurt her. I dont know why I was so stupid. I shouldve told her when she told me. Then Id be on a date with her instead of stupid Josie. I looked up and saw Austin sitting back in the chair looking worried about something.

~I dont know why I didnt just tell her yesterday. I had the perfect opportunity and I blew it. Entirely.~ I sighed again and stared at my dresser. ~You screwed up, man. You hurt Sophie and now Kayla will be distracted on our date tonight. Man! I was gonna give her an awesome present.~ I looked at him. ~You have a date with Kayla?~ He smiled that smile he gets when he thinks about Kayla.

~Yeah. But why are we talking about that. You hurt Sophie. Thats like bigger. She really does love you, man.~ I looked at him with a confused look, ~You KNEW?!~ I watched his eyes widen as he realized what he just said. ~Well, Kayla talks about it sometimes. But she swore me to secrecy and I couldnt tell you.~ I just kept looking at him, ~How long have you known?~ He looked nervous.

~Oh for a few months. Maybe 7~ I jumped up. ~WHAT?!?!?!?! SEVEN MONTHS?!?!?! Why didnt you tell me? Im your best friend; youre supposed to tell me these things!~ He stood up and walked towards the door. ~Look I keep my promises and I promised Kayla I wouldnt tell you; so I didnt. And dont take your anger at yourself out on me. Its not my fault you blew it with Sophie.~ He slammed the door and left.
