An early version of George's song, recorded during the Get Back sessions. Aside from the obvious differences in tone, this version is notable for its three part harmonies (by John & Paul). Additionally, it is the only version with John on piano. Paul and Ringo are in great form too.

Later, George would record at least two demos of the song for _Abbey Road_. The two versions featured a much darker guitar tone (with gorgeous tremolo), but lost the band dynamic. Presumably this is why the song was not released until the splitting of the Beatles, making it far more poetic.

Recorded 8 January 1969.

  • WHY did they veto this? It would have been great on Get Back, I think.

  • truthfully, i like this version more than george's final rendition, when the four guys get together, they create a certain kind of magic that can't be beaten

  • @DasGoldenBoy john and yoko were doing the waltz to 'i me mine' on the let it be video.

  • Ehm.. "Sunrise doesn't last all EVENING?" o.O -.-''

  • @Janne112 probably mostly because it was a George song its a sad reason but i think its mostly the truth

  • I like it more than the Anthology one.

  • @BigJohnWoody The footage from LIB (the movie) shows Lennon and Yoko doing a waltz while Paul and Ringo are playing along with George. When they did a proper studio version well after Abbey Road had been completed Lennon was looong gone from the Fabs. So you are correct sir.

  • @DasGoldenBoy Just to follow up on what OropherThrandull said, the "Dave Dee is no longer with us" is evidence that Lennon didn't play on the track.

  • This could've very well replaced I Me Mine on Let it Be. Maybe if, when Phil Spector told them that he was going to make it, they said "NO WAY YOU BUTCHER!" Then they got George Martin and they produced GET BACK! :D

  • @DasGoldenBoy

by the time i me mine was recorded he had left the band for 4 months, and he was on holiday in Denmark at the time, so you can't hold that gainst him.

he didn't take himself that serious, he was a very insecure man, belive it or not, he might have been critical toward his other post beatles musical careers, but for example he had big worries because everybody covered pausla nd not his songs, and he was really hurt when george almost made no mention of him in his bio.

  • @OropherThranduil Lennon did do some good work when he wasn't up on a soap box. It seems like he took himself too seriously at times. He had a very healthy ego and he did snub George's work on LIB, I don't think he even played on I Me Mine.

  • @RRyyNNee

dude, they still were assholes to him during the get back sessions considering his material, only on the last album, abbey road, did they finally aknowledge his talent.
