I think it's ludicrous that:
A) she survived this, and
B) another actress played Pam afterwards and the storyline claimed that this was because of 'plastic surgery'.

I've always **hated** the way that Pam was written out of the show!!

Well I liked this cliffhanger but didn't like the way it resolved. The letter she wrote pretty much destroyed what her character was for 11 seasons. An alternative writing could have been, that she had brain damage and only had a few months to live- her remaining time would have her being mentally unstable. Then if and when she came back to the show, she would reveal that she under went therapy and etc.
