Hailuogou Glacier was formed 16 million years ago and is located in western Sichuan. The entrance was three short blocks from the Ice Mountain Hotel and we bought tickets to enter. A whopping 300 Yuan (a little under $50 U.S.) for entrance, bus and cable car.

A fleet of green National Park Service buses shuttle you as far as the cable car and just getting to this point resembled a "Chinese fire drill"....

  • What was all of that security about, hahah...like you said, what do they think you are going to do up there on that mountain? Well, better to be careful I guess. Perhaps they had some harrowing incident in the past.....

    Those gondolas would scare me!
