@yang: Stop? No. Will it get regulated, and get safer? Only if we bring atention to it and make the EPA do their job, but by that time we may have seriously damaged our water and food supplies.
@yang: Because they can do just about anything they want and the EPA can not regulate them right now...so it is slash and burn! They need to make as much money as they can now while the EPA is powerless to stop them. Some of the people dumping poisons into rivers are being charged and cpnvicted, but very few, and people are losing their lives over it now.
If you do not think this could happen, watch the movie "Erin Brocovitch"...based on a very similar true story.
All of these require you put the youtube address before them. Youtube does not allow copying and pasting of full URL's to other videos.
You ask...why are they drilling like this? Easy Money for the gas companies and no need for environmental responsibility because of a lack of EPA regulations.
@WeedaPeople hm, i hope ur right. if so, the value of my investments will go up and up. So why is fracking become so popular then. Why are they drilling like this?? you see, send some videos to back what your saying. Thanks
@jaya: Drilling for oil and burning oil is not nearly as damaging as the millions of toxic gallons of fracking fluid that can not ever be cleaned and that must be stored indefinately, hoping it will not leak out into the ground and cause the same kind of human poisoning that was seen in the movie "Erin Brockovitch".
@WeedaPeople not sure, but i think even drilling for oil and burning oil, creates plenty of environmental damage. If the fracturing to drill for Nat gas is stopped, then the over supply for nat gas will no longer be there. But I cannot see it happening as the u.s has plenty of the fuel, and they want to sell it.
New hydraulic fracturing (fracking) processes are creating excessive toxic waste water that has no way of being processed to remove the toxicity. The burden of trying to figure out what to do with all of the toxic waste has fallen on local communities, and they are overwhelmed with the poisonous chemicals. Another huge problem has been the leakage of this toxic fluid into ground water supplies. Drinking water, water used for livestock and irrigation are also affected. The problem is emmense.

Investing in gas may be a bad idea when the EPA finally gets onto them about all the environmental damage they are causing.
