A traditional English folk song from Cottenham, Cambridgeshire, where it was collected in 1906 by Ella Bull from family servant Charlotte Few and sent to Percy Merrick. It had never been published when Mary Humphreys found the handwritten manuscript in the Vaughan Williams Memorial library at Cecil Sharp House. We've been singing and playing it ever since and Mary has now published it in a book of songs from Cambridgeshire, including several others from the same source. The song also appeared in EDS (English Dance and Song) magazine a few years ago.
Apart from a similar song called "Catch Me if you Can" from Devon, there are no other complete versions of this song.
