The sound is a bit quiet in the beginning. Don't turn up your speakers because the song's at the proper level.

This is a fan-made music video of Yuen Wo-Ping's Wing Chun starring Michelle Yeoh set to the song "Just a Girl" by No Doubt.

I think this is probably my most "easy" music and video combination, in spite of the difficulty behind editing fight scenes to music. This is also my favourite Michelle Yeoh movie so far. There's just something simple and wonderful about Wing Chun.

I do not own the rights to any of the footage or music herein contained, just the cutlist and work and time involved.

From the Wikipedia entry on the history of the art of Wing Chun:

The oral history of the Yip Man branch of Wing Chun dates its creation to the reign of the Emperor Kangxi (1662--1722). After escaping the destruction of the Fujian Shaolin Monastery by Qing forces, the Abbess Ng Mui fled to the distant Daliang mountains (大涼山) on the border between Yunnan and Sichuan. One day, she came upon a fight between a snake and a crane (or other animal). She took the lessons she learned from observing the fight between the two animals and combined them with her own knowledge of Shaolin kung fu to create a new style. Ng Mui often bought her bean curd at the tofu shop of Yim Yee (嚴二). Yim Yee had a daughter named Yim Wing-Chun (嚴詠春) whom a local warlord was trying to force into marriage. Ng Mui taught her new fighting style to Wing-Chun, who used it to fend off the warlord once and for all. Wing-Chun eventually married a man she loved, Leung Bok-Chao (梁博儔), to whom she taught the fighting techniques that Ng Mui had passed on to her. Husband and wife in turn passed the new style on to others.

  • alguien me puede decir que pelicula es?

  • Wing Chun

  • There is practically no Wing Chun in this movie. Just daft-looking Wushu shit, slapstick nonsense and flying around on wires.

  • You must not watch too many period kung fu films. I don't think there is one without wire-work of some sort and the martial art isn't necessarily accurate to the character's background. Even the fight with with the Japanese guy at the end of Jet Li's Fearless was incorrect...his style was definitely Chinese. Even I can see that and I'm not trained in sword play. It happens.
