The Tonemonster is unique. Making another amp sound the same or better than Phil's Tonemaster was no easy task. It is true, sometimes you get lucky and the tone is just there, but with Phil's amp, this was not the case. We even purchased a similar amp to Phil's, and the tone was not even close. There are number of factors that create desirable amp tone including tubes, speakers, transformers, wood types, construction of the cabinets and the electronics. However, what I rely on the most are my ears and talented artists like Phil X to validate it, all the other items will be groomed to fit. When the Tonemonster was almost complete, we played it live for a number of pros who have years experience, and then recorded it at a professional studio in Hollywood where producers and engineers were freaking out over the tone. However, the only thing we wanted to hear was what Phil told us, "you just recreated my Tonemaster and it sounds even better". That's why we thought it was appropriate to change the name from Tonemaster to Tonemonster. Once we demo the Tonemonster for the FA audience with Phil's original amp, you will hear what what we're talking about.

A closing comment: All amplifiers have a unique tone and character to them, so instead of saying something sounds bad, good or great, it's really another tone tool that can be added to a song that will make it musical to the person listening.
