A cover of an old Mac Wiseman recording. Mac has been almost as much an inspiration to me as Hank Williams, Sr.

I WONDER HOW THE OLD FOLKS ARE AT HOME
KEY OF "E" (CAPO 2ND FRET, PLAY "D")

[D] Well I wonder how the [G] old folks are at [D] home
I wonder if they miss me while I [G] roam
I wonder if they [D] pray for the boy who went away
And [E] left his dear old parents all a- [A7] lone

(CHORUS): You could [D] hear the cattle [G] lowing in the [D] lane You could see the fields of blue grass where I've [G] grown You could almost hear them [D] cry as they kissed their boy goodbye Well I [E] wonder how the [A7] old folks are at [D] home

[D] Just a village and a [G] homestead on the [D] farm
And a mother's love to shield you from all [G] harm
A mother's love so [D] true, a sweetheart that loves you
A [E] village and a homestead on the [A7] farm

(CHORUS)

TAG: Yes, I [E] wonder how the [A7] old folks are at [D] home

  • Cool song, and great that you put the lyrics on the song also. Unfortunately, I cannot read the last verse. Great pickin' you sound so natural. Loved it!

  • Hi Friend,You do a grand job on this song

Mac Wiseman was my Late Mother's singer and if she was living today she'd be proud. You surely deserve 5000 Stars

    God Bless..Eddie

  • Thanks, Eddie ....that is very kind of you.

    Ben

  • nice job! what kind of guitar are you pickin on?

  • Thanks, Kieth. The guitar is a Martin HDO limited edition. It is number 530 of 650, that Martin made to honor the Grand Ole Opry. It is essentially an HD-28, with a white micarta fret board with the words, "WSM GRAND OLE OPRY" inlaid in red abalone. There is a microphone on the headstock inlaid with abalone. The headstock combined wth the fret board is supposed to look like the mic and stand on the G.O.O. Thanks for asking. /Ben
