Dance of the Lakes, written for Frank and Lorna Lake by Fried de Metz Herman in 1993, is a trio longways formation English country dance with a delightful "cluster" figure in the B section--a visually arresting part of the dance and great fun to do.
The dance shown here, as taught by Orly Krasner and danced at the Country Dancers of Westchester 2010 Celebration of Spring Ball, has a few white caps and a near capsize but we had a great time with it and all the other dances on the evening's program, which was designed by Fried and taken almost entirely from the dances she published.
Music at the Ball was provided by John Austen, violin; Leah Barkan, piano; Mark Eisenberg, recorder; and Sue Polansky, clarinet.
