This video shows how to replace the upper ball joint and control arm assembly. Check both sides for play and replace if any play is present. Once play develops they deteriorate much more rapidly and if it ever separates the wheel will not be connected to the vehicle and will literally fall off and get run over by your car sending you across traffic.

  • Why did you have to replace the whole control arm though? I didn't see anything wrong with it and the ball joint should be where the play was being felt. Great video though!

  • @thehumble1 When researching what to do, I found it was a difficult procedure to replace only the ball joint without a hydraulic press. And if not done correctly, I heard that they would fail prematurely. The aftermarket assembly was about twice the cost but less than have the effort.

  • Thanks man

  • where you having wheel alignment problems?? mine has alignment problems and i was told to get a camber kit....... but maybe im going to to this as well

  • thanks for the response, yeah, especially with your technique of dropping the entire arm, it looks like it's not too much more work and only about $50 more in parts.

  • Y dont you grease the ball joint?

  • Thanks for the Video! Very helpful and well made!

My GF has a 2001 Honda Accord EX 4 cylinder and is experiencing medium to strong steering wheel vibration when breaking and at 60+ miles per hour and suspect that the ball joint is bad. Assuming that ball joint is indeed bad, can you replace just the joint and not the whole control arm? Autozone carries the arm/joint for 119.99 and the joint itself is only 19.99. Thanks again for the vid!

  • Made in China... NOOO :-) i always using japanese Yamato suspension parts on my a4g
