No, nukleamusic. Ong is correct. Ong is Gurmukhi, Om is Sanskrit. Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo is the correct mantra and used widely in the lineage of Yogi Bhajan.

I see. Isn't Guru Dev Namo also Sanskrit? Why the distinction then? I thought Gurmukhi was a script not a language. I'm fascinated by linguistics. What's the etymology of Ong? Judging by the rest of the mantra I'm guessing it derives from Om.

It does derive from Om. We are not linguistic experts, so you should ask one of those for the etymology. However, Yogi Bhajan the master of Kundalini yoga, said that Om was for renunciates and Ong better suited to householders as a mantra. You will also find this word in Sikh prayers, such as the Mul Mantra "Ek Ong Kar Sat Nam...." (as so on). Blessings!

We don't need to be a Christian, Islam , Hindu, Chinese , Jew or any other religion to touch and feel GOD. All we need is heart and mind.

You are anger, this is love. Stop and listen. May the love embrace you. Language is a toy that we children can play with but the love is boundless. Your knowledge is commendable but don't let it blind you. Let it go and listen.

See my previous comment. You don't know what you're talking about. Onkar is found in sanskrit texts.
