My oldest radio right now is a GE P-725B from around 1958-1959. I had to replace four out of five transistors, all of the electrolytic capacitors and one paper capacitor. The thing is extraordinarily sensitive and incredibly loud.

Great stuff! As transistor radios got better, we had to make sure it said "Solid State" on it, but not sure why.

Very good video of a fine collection. Thanks for sharing it.
That's a great song, also. I'd never heard it before.

I was raised in L.A. in the 60's. Radio was new and exciting. Channels, each set to one genre. In 1973, I got my first, transistor, with coupons from my mother's S&H green stamps. Small, red plastic, with a beige, ear piece. I could slip the radio, into my bra, run the cord around my strap and into my ear. The long hair kept it hid. I was living in a world, with my own sound track and nobody knew, but me. I have to grin a little, when I see kids today, with their i-pods and ear buds!

I bet anyone over 50 remembers the good ole days. Listening to AM radio at night seeing how many stations they could pull in. Thanks for stopping by.
