the opening is a bit too dramatic for my liking...but great dancing

Completely agree - said exactly the same as this on another version of the Bolero posted on YouTube. It's also their musicality and "in-tuneness" throughout this performance that gets to me. They're completely lost in it and it's just phenomenal. to watch.
@gk891 Thank you for uploading! :)
Don't think it's "fans" who criticize this for being easy so much as people who have blatantly never been on an ice rink haha! ;)

Thanks for sharing. After watching the US Championships last week, I got to thinking about this routine and needed to see it. After nearly 30 years, it is still the best ice dance routine ever skated. Torvill and Dean's execution makes everyone believe they could do it because it is so effortless. In reality, it is one of the most difficult ever skated. I agree, it makes a person proud to be British!!!

I remember watching this on TV. If you ever have watched Olympic Ice Skating, you know that the commentators have one major flaw, they don't know when to shut up. As I remember the commentators were mesmerized by the performance and we got to enjoy this performance without having to listen to their comments about every little thing. When they got done, the one commentator said something like, "we've just viewed an historical moment in ice skating. I still agree today with that comment.

There are people still saying that this is not a high technical level program. I think they are mistaken. What happens is that Dean and Torvil made this performance look easy. If you watch carefully you will realize that not few of their movements had not only originality but also difficulty. I believe that this is the best ice dancing performance ever that combines perfectly the technical elements with artistry.

I agree that they had perfect execution but this was a very difficult free dance. As I said in my blurb, this program had a lot of deep running edges, complex handholds, and moves that were done with almost no set-up time (there's virtually zero stroking). This is one of, if not the most difficult free dances in the history of ice dance. But they make the difficult look very extremely effortless.
