ROYALTY AND A CHILD

Reclining on a bed
purring for Brie
at 2 a.m.
the Queen of Sheba
informs me
she was BORN to be spoiled
but there are some things
she just won't do
unless I pour her
another glass of wine
so I supplicate her whims
to lose myself
in the mystery
that indulgence
sets free
only to find
real magic
comes after sunrise
watching her
wrapped in a cocoon of blankets
like a little girl
with an unconscious smile
which slips away
when she opens her eyes
and nervously says
not to look
before she gets up
to walk to the bathroom.

  • Hey, Poet this is brilliant, wonderful laid back poetry. I think the way you read your poems suits the style so well. I guess your poetry reminds me of Charles Bukowski, who is one of my favourite writers. I have only been writing for one year and have a mountain to climb but I think that reading your work will be a help.

    Thanks for posting this.

    Regards, Peter

  • nordicksy: Only a year? You gotta be kidding me. You must have started when I first got on youtube as DavidKabuki - and when I saw your videos I thought, "Oh, well this is the work of seasoned pro." ANYONE READING THIS CHECK OUT NORDICSKY's channel - GREAT STUFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • actually you are quite a smug looking bastard, what are you so smug about? I still think the poem is adorable!

  • katwoman11: I'm as smug as a bug in a rug ;)

  • Lovely.

It's great every now and then finding one of your poems as I travel the Tube.

  • a first night togther, then yes...wine and hide your eyes in the morning. but after 4-5 months? this girl was hiding from herself. maybe still is. nonetheless, a truly beautiful poem -- and maybe one of your most personally revaling? -- with great insight into why men still can love women, even after all the cunts recently spawned and sent to castrate us.

  • I was really interested and hooked. I probably can't understand the feelings completely, but I can appreciate a GREAT piece of work when I see it! I am reall fond of this piece!

  • That's IT! I can't take all the procrastination! David, why aren't you required reading at my university's intro to lit class?!! You NEED TO BE PUBLISHED ALREADY! I really dig your shit, man.

  • sir.....your delivery is fantastic...all lazy and slow yet completely switched on.

  • excellent poem

  • I love this one, David. I intended to click 5*, but my finger slipped on the mouse! I hope that counts, nevertheless. Great work, indeed.

  • WOW! I'm hooked. How shall I get anything done tonight for this new discovery? You my dear have brought shame upon my household, for now the dishes sit unwashed, the laundry in a crumpled heap still warm in it's basket, and the crumbs on the floor - at least the mice shall have a feast tonight! but I shall look a mess at work with my wrinkled socks... dishonor and shame, thank you! :)
