Had a canary U.S. 1976 Mercury Capri II, and was my first car. V6, 4-speed, dual exhaust, rear wheel drive= bad ass.

If it's the song that comes in when Quentin is on the seafront, after Disco Inferno, is Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music's 'Over You'.

They should have made a V8 available ex factory then the rest of the world may have taken more notice. In Australia even the 3lt V6 GT was a bit of a performance joke compared to many other cars available, especially the Torana. The name "Capri" was also a little too prissy and feminine, imho. I loved the lines of the MK1 but always thought the simple tail lights otherwise let the cars appearance down.

As a Canadian I wasn't very familiar with the Car's The Star series before, but I love watching them here on YouTube! Did they make an episode on the Ford Cortina and Rover P5B? Those are a couple other favorite British cars of mine. :-)
Back in the 90's, I bought a roughly used 1976 2.8L V6 Mk II in Detroit and restored it. I LOVED that car. Sadly, I had to eventually let it go, due to storage issues at the time.
Out of every car I've ever owned - and I've owned a few - none are missed more than that Capri. It's hard to explain to a non-owner, but it had so much personality, soul, had a sense of fun about it...it just begged to be driven, and was incredibly rewarding to do so. The Capri will always be a classic to me.
