Those photos were taken over 20 years ago. I'm sure a lot has changed since then. If memory serves me right, the photos of the dock area was taken near the railroad station, not far from where the ferry would depart and arrive from the mainland.

Ah Penang ... The lesser known R&R spot in the orient. Met a nice Aussie woman there.

This is great that you took an interest in their culture documenting same in photos. I have talked to many GI's that never took any photos or have any photos of their service time. This is something all can view and enjoy. I have an American friend living in Nam and he loves it (he did not serve in Nam). I have been told that they treat American very well.
PS: right or wrong, both sides were fighting for what they believed in.
