The American version of the highly overlooked 1985 cult German horror fantasy drama gem from Roland Emmerich long before his hollywood career, a fascinating and startling yet dark fantasy horror movie that is a tribute and parody of Lucas and Spielberg movies but with heart and soul. Definitely one of my all time favorites!

The Prologue with opening credits.

  • this movie is masterpiece, but the US version sucks somehow :|

  • @MrJackDeth

I agree it is a great cult classic and Emmerich's only cult movie! New World Pictures did screwed up and mangled this movie in the US with altered hollywood sounding score that sounds like John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith and Great Mouse Detective combined and the dubbing isn't too bad. Thank god for a superior cut with subtitles, ain't i right? have you ever seen the original New World cut of Nausicaa called Warriors of the Wind? a similar thing happened to that 80's animated film

  • Saw the trailer, Killer dolls or living inanimate dolls always get my attention.

  • @Johnlindsey289 I saw all of those in theaters except for Night of the Creeps, which i saw on video the next year. 86 was an awesome year, but i liked 88 even better.

  • @TheAltair4

The summer of 1986 was awesome for movies don't you think? you got to see Labyrinth, this movie, Transformers, The Fly, Great Mouse Detective, Jason Lives ,Ferris Bueller, Flight of the Navigator, Howard The Duck, Top Gun, Aliens, Highlander etc. did you also see Sleeping Beauty, Gobots Battle of the Rock Lords, Maximum Overdrive, Short Circuit, Invaders from Mars, Jake Speed, Karate Kids 2, Night of the Creeps, Stand by me and Song of the South as well?

  • @Johnlindsey289 Fletcher, easily. lol

  • @TheAltair4

Who do you think is scarier that summer? Ratigan or Fletcher?

  • @parnd

There is an uncut version, this is 1986's butchered and altered US cut that has a different score and lot of good stuff cut out, it's here the uncut unaltered superior version in subtitles. Reminds me of how New World did screwed up another great cult 80s foreign movie known as Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind in 1985 under the Warriors of the Wind cut.

  • so this is not uncut?

  • I'm trying to remember this one movie, im not sure if it was this, but i remember this one scene very distinctly, its where this one woman is showing all these children her doll collection and then one of the dolls moves and scares one of the kids, then later when they all leave, all the dolls come to life and try to kill her.
