Air Force Cadet Third Class Malcolm Strong ran the Walt Disney Marathon for more than just himself, it was a "Run for the Fallen." The Central Florida native wants to raise awareness for all the men and women killed in the United States global war on terrorism. Strong ran the 26.2 miles in full military fatigues, carried a 30 pound backpack, and handed out American flags along the route. More importantly to the Air Force Cadet, he carried letters from family members whose loved ones were killed in the service of our country. He will wear the 2010 Disney World Marathon medal he earned with pride.

The Endurance Series at Walt Disney World Resort gives recreational athletes of all ages and abilities the chance to walk, jog, run, bike and swim their way around the world. From marathons to road races to triathlons, athletes from across the country and around the world compete to stay in shape, achieve personal best times and raise donations for charitable causes. Popular Endurance Series events are the Walt Disney World Marathon and Half Marathon (Jan. 6-9, 2011), Champion 5k at ESPN the Weekend (Feb. 27, 2010), Disneys Princess Half Marathon Weekend (March 5-7, 2010), Expedition Everest Challenge (June 12, 2010) and the inaugural Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend (Oct. 1-2, 2010). • Oh my gosh! Brought me to tears. So true what he said about people more worried about the money the war is costing rather than the lives. Thanks for inspiring me!

  • Beautiful story. Truly touching,

  • Thank you all for the words of encouragment. If you are running the 2012 Disney Marathon in orlando please look for me again. Due to a series of injuries in training I will not have the ruck; however, it still is 100% in honor of our fallen service men and women and those who have sacrificed in any capacity for our freedom.

  • Cadet, you make me proud.

  • Damn right!! Give em hell sir and words can say enough on how much we thank you for your service!!!!

  • This man is a true hero

  • As a retired navy SENIOR CHIEF PETTY OFFICER,I SALUTE this fine young man for what he did.

  • Thank you Cadet Strong! I am proud to be an American and I grateful for all my American soldiers.

Anyone that thinks he is a showoff has obviously never ran or trained for a marathon. You should be ashamed of yourself for even saying that.
