TAG Heuer introduces a concept Monaco Wrist Watch with a unique patented drive-belt transmission. The V4 Movement replaces the pinions of the traditional mechanical movement with a relay of 13 drive belts. On top of that the TAG Heuer Monaco V4 also features also for the first time a linear oscillating weight.

The belts will last for years and years. It's all scientifically based on materials selection and application (engineering). Great innovation for a watch!

@Mistraker Actually belts are very durable and long lasting if in a closed environment with relatively little heat change. The serpentine belt on your car will last 30k 60k or even 100k miles (sometimes even more) and thats with huge temperature fluctuations (sometimes every day), dirt and debris getting on it plus the constant vibrations of an engine and the heat of an engine. A belt in a closed case with no debris, low temp fluctuations and that wont get run hard when its cold will last.

Wow, a belt driven watch... what a terrible idea. Unless the idea is to drum up more money by introducing components designed to regularly break, requiring you to service your very specific and expensive watch with the company that made it. Then it's a fantastic idea, from a "screw your customers over in order to take their money" perspective.
