Israel announces tenders for 1500 new settler units in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem al-Quds.
Israel's housing minister Uri Ariel said in a statement that the move is in response to the formation of a new Palestinian unity government. About 11-hundred of the units will be built in the occupied West Bank and the remaining four-hundred ones in East Jerusalem al-Quds. Israeli settlements are considered illegal under international law. However, Tel Aviv is expanding projects on occupied Palestinian territories, in defiance of international calls to stop them. A new Palestinian government was sworn in on Monday, after Palestinian movements, Fatah and Hamas agreed to set aside difference in favor of a unity deal. Israel says it will hold no talks with the new Palestinian government.
