If you're a military spouse, you can become a Family Child Care Provider. This means making your home a daycare and getting paid for providing care to other children of military members.

Things I forgot to mention:

When you become a childcare provider, you can only have 6 daycare children at one time. Two of those children can be infants under the age of two. If any of your own children are under the age of 8, they will count towards your 6 daycare children limit.

The USDA reimbursement is only a partial refund which is about $1.80 for lunch, $0.60 cents for snacks and I think it's higher for supper but I don't remember the exact amount.

Also, when buying food or furniture for your daycare, remember to pay it separately from what you buy for personal use for tax purposes. Anything you buy for your daycare children is tax deductible, including the purchase of birthday party items.

The Family Child Care (FCC) class is free.

The $730 I made from Subsidy is just the amount that the military covered for parents who qualified for a reduced fee under the Military's income standard. I also made money from parents who paid their portion of the fee, parents who did not meet the income standard, back-up care for other FCC providers, and temporary care for drop-ins and hourly care. For those of you wondering how much I made on a month to month basis, I racked in roughly $1500 to $3000 a month when you factor in that although I was required to be open 10 hours a day, I would sometimes work 12 hours shifts and on the weekends.

In case I didn't make it clear, the Lending Library allows you to check out items for your daycare, such as play pens, baby toys, books, music, costumes, bikes, play kitchens, and so forth. If you no longer need those items, you can check them back in. As I stated in the video, there may not be enough for all providers, so it is up to you if you want to buy any furniture, toys, or baby items to accommodate your daycare children. I personally had to buy a few things (which were tax deductible) and then sold them when I no longer did daycare.

These monthly inspections are done once a month only. If you become an accredited provider, you not only will make more money but also get inspected every 3 months. You will get a debriefing (spoken to) about the inspection on anything you can improve on or if anything needs to be fixed in your home. The self assessment booklet must be done monthly and it will be checked to see how you assessed your home.

The childcare packet (folder) must be visible and easily accessible at all times. It can not be in a filing cabinet. The paperwork I showed you are a few of the many documents you will need the parents to sign.

It may become stressful at times when you're doing daycare. It is imperative that your family assist you in cleaning your home to prepare for the next day. Dealing with parents can sometimes seem impossible, especially when they disregard what you're saying. This may happen and you will need to learn to communicate with them. Make sure your contract states all your rules and regulations but I advise you to not write your contract in a way you would write a blog. For example....You have to understand I have a life too and bills to pay. It's tacky and unprofessional.

Again, if you have any questions, feel free to ask.
