My five year journey as an ALT in the JET Programme in rural Japan is coming to an end. I will leave Shimane on Wednesday and be back in San Diego at the end of this week.

I want to sincerely thank all my subscribers for your continued support over the past two years. I couldn't ask for a nicer bunch of people who keep coming back and watching and rating and commenting and are able to overlook my many mistakes and deficiencies. ありがとうございます!

Being able to spread the word about Japan and JET thru YouTube these past years has been a great experience for me, and I hope to continue making interesing vlogs once I'm back in the States.

To all those interested in coming to Japan - Do it! There are so many ways to get here, and it's such a worthwhile experience; don't let anything stop you. Even if you just come for a short visit, if you really want to see Japan, then make it happen.

To all the JETs past and present who have found my vids helpful - I hope you make vlogs about your Japan experience as well. There's plenty of room on YT for all kinds of perspectives on Japan.

To all the aspiring JETs - good luck. The application process is long and difficult, but very much worth the effort if you make it to Japan.

You can read my farewell speech on my blog:

Feel free to continue to send your PMs and questions to me here on YT.
The Myargonauts channel isn't going anywhere. :)

Peace!

mata ne,
Jason

  • Hi Jason. I've been watching your videos for quiet some time now but never posted. I'm from Miami and had to leave home to go to school in NC and Phoenix. You make good friendships and have amazing experiences, and while part of you is happy to return home, the other part doesn't want to leave. I didn't have a vlog while away but i took many pics and sent videos home. I know this last video must have been very hard. Especially since when you turn off your camera you are alone in your house. :(

  • I just want to thank you for all the videos!! I enjoyed them very much...you gave me a new perspective.

    Welcome back to California!

  • Thank you for all your videos there all very useful knowledge to have about JET.

  • I had to find short moments when I could go online if only for a few minutes - at my school, at the Korean airport waiting for a delayed connection, etc. But I'm back now :)
