In the side impact, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door at 50 km/h. In the pole test, the car tested is propelled sideways at 29km/h into a rigid pole.

"The steering wheel and air bag were forced upwards and into the driver's face, hitting his head hard and putting strain on his neck. The driver's chest also hit the steering wheel, increasing risk of injury. His knees were poorly protected too, and the chances of him injuring his left thigh were very high. The footwell spilt open and his lower legs and feet were poorly protected. The passenger also ran a considerable risk of chest injury."

@sangolt88 Indeed,that's why most of the American cars after 2000 are getting 5 stars getting almost no damage while absorbing the crash and leading the passenger exit the vehicle as it entered.

Sorry but generalizing the cars by region is as dumb as comparing the Ceicento's safety to a Mercedes.
