In the UK, ~7 years ago, a vaccine to slow down the progression of Alzheimer's Type Dementia was developed. Alzheimer's patients have a build up of plaques in the brain & the vaccine targets these plaques. The initial experiments on mice proved successful. But, recent studies on human subjects have not been as successful There were very few plaques present on autopsy, but the progression of the disease compared to those who didn't receive the vaccine was almost identical.

They were experimenting on mice with a vaccine some years ago. I think it turned out that the attempts didn't work out after all but at that time I think they looked very promising. I think Kate here says that these tests with the vaccine should be allowed to be tested in a next stage.

What vaccine is she talking about? 1:11

I don't have as much empathy for people who have used cigarettes and then find out they have a diseased and shortened life. Your fault!

that was so sad. she really is an inspration! why cant more actors and actress be more like Kate so all the girls around the world can have a true role model

Yes, she's so candid and open...and still remembers the good memories too cuz they're the most important. I just love her...
I can't explain the feeling I felt inside when I saw this. My tears where just running on. I find it so brave and admirable that she speaks about this so openly. My grandma has Alzheimer's too, this disease is so hard to handle with. and kates commitment to find a solution for this problem shows that she's not only an excellent actress, but also a very special person with a great heart. I just look up to her.

You are welcome and I am sorry about your grandma. One day we will find a solution and noone has to lose a loved one like this anymore. Until this day it is wonderful to have people like Kate who give so much courage and hope to us all. Recently there has been a major break through in Alzheimers reseach in Germany. Don't know the details but I think scientists are nearer to a solution than ever before.

I cried when I saw this for the first time. To see her sadness and hear her talk about her mother's illness makes me want to help as well. Noone should lose a loved one like this. But Kate says some very beautiful things in it as well. "Just live it."
