@soljahsolrac How are they vicious lies? They may be incorrect, but vicious lies? They're only vicious lies if you believe being thought of as gay as something terrible or bad. If we ever get to a point in society where being gay is no big deal, then it shouldn't be a big deal if people suggest or hope someone else might be gay. People always like to hope/fantasize that attractive celebrities might "bat for their team" if you will. It's not slander if you're not homophobic.

I read that Sal Mineo when he was older said at the time they did Rebel he was in love with James Dean but just didn't know it. And I personally am not sure what to make of Sal's statement that the day they filmed Plato's death, James Dean would position him exactly on the floor for that shot, but also he wouldn't let Sal out of his sight all day, as if he was afraid Sal was actually going to die. It sounds weird but I also think it's sweet that he felt that strongly and concerned for him.

@nightstalkerck No I don't think so either, now 16, there's some word that he was sleeping with Natalie Wood at that time. But man ages didn't mean back then what they do now because Sal at 14 would take an unloaded gun onto trains when he went to audition as a form of protection. Never get away with that today.

I just finished reading the new Sal Mineo biography. According to Sal's long-term boyfriend, Courtney Burr, who he was seeing until his death, Sal stated he had great admiration for James Dean, but there was never a sexual relationship.
I highly recommend the book. It's a great read!
