Two of the three UK steam railtours to be ran on Saturday 26th November 2011 involved the Welsh Marches line to Shrewsbury for the annual Christmas fayre. 'The Marches Monarch' was hauled by GWR number 6024 'King Edward I' from Bristol Temple Meads to Shrewsbury, but orginally started diesel hauled from Eastleigh. The second tour was 'The Cathedrals Express' hauled by new build A1 class number 60163 'Tornado', running from London Paddington via Badminton, Severn Tunnel and the Welsh Marches line to Shrewsbury entirely steam hauled.

The King is seen climbing Llanvihangel Bank and 'Tornado' to the north of Pontypool.

With thanks to Hyperen and GJDobbzy.

  • Great film Joshua,

Stunning scenery of the view of KEI. The Tornado shot was very impressive. Real power. I've subscribed to your channel. Please take a look at my shot of Tornado departing Paddington. Please comment and if you like subscribe back.
