  • @nedgey I agree and disagree. These are all AT mics so they will sound similar to some extent. When you compare them to different condensers/microphones you can tell a difference. I do agree with the price budget. It sucks that to sound "better" you "usually" have to spend more money

  • Bet no one doing a proper blind-trial could match these mics to their respective recordings (after all have recorded the same thing simultaneously at the same proximity etc.). We are all suckers for this pro audio stuff but in reality should be focusing more on songwriting than mostly undetectable differences in mics. Prob best to stick with the one of its type that best suits your budget.

  • @hawg427 I haven't heard of that brand mic. I've own Neumann, Audio technica, and MXL. Overall, I think audio technica is a great mic, now that comparing to my neumann tlm 103, it can't, but for the price with good quality, it's not that bad.

  • @lasttearzstudio I am trying to decide between the AT4040 and the Sontronics STC-2 condenser mics for the recording of my Martin HD-28 acoustic. Have you heard the Sontronics?

  • @theswish123able The 4033 is crispy and clear. A great microphone!

  • can anyone tell which audiotechnica is best for crispy clear vocals?

  • @avgiant i rap, so which microphone would you suggest for crispy clear vocals.

  • @tomhiggins1 Hi ^_^, well, the most part depends on if you've got a pre with or without tube, additionally to the extra gain and other stuff that are opcional features in each pre. In mi case, the Tube MP Project Series is as it says, a tube pre, wich gives some warmth and mellow sound to the mic, characteristic of the tube, bassically is as if you have a tube condenser mic or simillar, and this pre is the USB version that allows you to plug the mic directly to the PC or MAC. ^_^

  • @kumagai1983 Hi there, I've got the same mic.. Could you tell me how much difference using an external pre makes?? Thanks :D

  • I'm very very happy with my at2020, plugged in my ART Tube MP Project Series USB pre-amp through an original Audio Technica cable with Neutrik XLR connectors, freaking good for vocals!! :D
