  • I am in this opera at the Lyric Opera Chicago (children's chorus) and our first run was Yonghoon Lee as Don Jose and Katherine Goeldner as Carmen. He is so talented and so kind, and very respectful. His voice is amazing and he actually acts well (unlike some opera singers). It would be a dream to sing with him again, even see him. I love this recording because Nadia Krasteva is Carmen in our second run and she's very good. They both are extremely talented.

  • Great!

  • @eurydike Amsterdam, June (I think) 2009.

  • A South Korean Tenor Makes His Mark at the Met, With La Scala Next (New York Times)

The South Korean tenor Yonghoon Lee won a lot of fans at the Metropolitan Opera for his recent performances in the touchstone title role of Verdi's "Don Carlo" at the Metropolitan Opera, starting with his Met debut on Nov.

  • Hi JockamoGoon -- I listened to him in the Don Carlo, didn't like him as well as Alagna in the part -- but Alagna wasn't as good at that age as he is now. He has a very interesting voice. I'll be pleased to go see him in person sometime, or on the Met in HD. I like him, just want to wait and see how his voice develops. This big stardom stuff is very dangerous to the voice. (Villazon!)

  • when and where did they sing this?

  • "The" new star? Let's just enjoy the voice as it is. Sounds very good! Like that steamy Carmen also. -- But let's see how his voice holds up from now on. Could be just super.

  • @blazers1987 I heard him at the Met last night. He was absolutely amazing!
