NIKON D5000 Movie Mode Fast Action Shots (Also applicable for CANON 500D, 5D MARK 2, NIKON D90, D300s)
No AUTOFOCUS on Movie Mode? (Nikon)
AutoFocus Very Slow? (Canon)
NO PROBLEM!
Here's what to do!
1. Set your lens to the WIDEST focal length, like 18mm (12mm is better).
2. Put some electrical tapes on the the zoom ring so it won't move from the wide angle setting. About 2 inches of tape will do.
3. Set Mode DIAL to "A" or Aperture
4. Set the Aperture to F8 (F11 is better)
5. At this setting, everything will be in FOCUS from 2 metres (7 feet) to INFINITY!
6. Press LV
7. Press OK and start SHOOTING!
Applicable to cameras: NIKON D5000, NIKON D90, NIKON D300s, CANON 500D, CANON 5D MARK 2

If you have a Nikon, go to Apeture priority (A) mode, and set the Aperutre to F22, this generally worked for me. Got everything in focus :)
