@StJames37 *his citation of Psalm 22 while on the cross (my God, my God, why have you forsaken me?)

The early Church and every single Church father never heard of either 'satisfaction' or 'penal substitution'. These 'theories' are anachronistic and are not part of the Gospel of the early Church.

The Christian God (the Trinity) is immutable (unchanging) by definition. How can the perfect communion of love within the Trinity ever change? Were it to do so, it would mean that God himself changes. If God can changes - then he is no longer the 'Christian' God. The Church fathers only taught Christus Victor and the ontological theory. Penal substitution was invented by the Reformers, following the medieval Catholic theory of 'satisfaction' invented by Anselm in the 11th century.

@drumrnva u need to experience Gods Person through faith in jesus christ, than youll understand, its much more than mental assent, its supernatural

@amiable519 Truth, love, and justice are all ideas to which we've given words. If God is as ethereal as an idea, why not simply remove it from the paradigm? Far as I can tell, 'God" is just another name for an ideal set of behaviors.

@drumrnva because of that we {mankind} where seperated from God {yahway} and thats why we need Jesus without him dying on the cross and drinking the cup of Gods wrath, we would not be able to get into relationship with this all powerful, all loving, being
i agree in some way, but i like Paul Washer's explanation better because he says that the Value of Jesus Christ is higher than creation as a whole!! and also i believe what Isaiah 53 where it says "and it pleased Jaweh to crush Him"// so it was the father who slaughtered His only begotten son..

@tempemonkey Please know I'm not trying to insult you, its just that ive been in the same place you are and i remember how dissatisfied I was in what i was being taught. I'm only here to tell you that there is a God who loves you more than you can imagine, no matter what you have done (trust me, I'm the worst sinner I know). He's offering you a purpose-driven life with an everlasting pay-off, and all He asks of you is that you believe
