Here's LA's largest resident, Billy the elephant, revisited at the Los Angeles Zoo with the recent controversy regarding a new pachyderm (elephant) sanctuary and viewing area under construction.
Seen here in his current pen at the zoo, Billy lives alone and has very little room to walk around.
Since elephants are the world's largest land animals and not normally seen in North America (except at the circus), the zoo is the only place where the public can see these giants up close and personal. Their mannerisms, their natural behavior without training
as well as their huge physical presence make the elephant a good educational experience for children and satisfy the curiosity for people of all ages!
Lonely Billy needs some friends and more space to roam as these great animals would normally have in the wild. Billy would appreciate the change because elephants don't forget!
Last night, I saw the LA Zoo on Google Earth and if you zoom in you can see Billy in his exhibit! Looking forward to seeing his new home.

Clearly visible, the undisputed LA's largest living creature...in such a small place, yeah the new home would be great!
