For those so called Catholics who voted for Obama, yet still feel no regret, please know that you have scored points for the enemy- and the enemy knows that. You could have opted to vote for a third party at the very least.
For those who stayed faithful to Rome, God bless you.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-communism
The Catholic Church has a history of anti-communism. The most recent Catechism of the Catholic Church states: "The Catholic Church has rejected the totalitarian and atheistic ideologies associated in modem times with 'communism' or 'socialism.' Regulating the economy solely by centralized planning perverts the basis of social bonds [Still,] reasonable regulation of the marketplace and economic initiatives, in keeping with a just hierarchy of values and a view to the common good, is to be commended."
Pope John Paul II was a harsh critic of communism, and other popes shared this view as well, for example Pope Pius IX issued Papal encyclical called Quanta Cura in which he called "Communism and Socialism" the most fatal error During the Spanish Civil War, the Catholic Church opposed the left-leaning Republican forces due to their ties to communism and atrocities against Catholicism in Spain, and in many churches and schools prayers were made for the victory of Franco and the Nationalists.

@NativeNewYorkGuy Above you state that Catholics can leave the Church but in your last post about Hitler you can not leave the church. If nothing else please be consistent. Again Britain, France, Russia, League of Nations, Italy, Austria are all complicit why do you not condemn them.

@NativeNewYorkGuy Yeah no Germans listened or cared for the Pope thats why todays Pope was born in that time in Germany. How can his time be up what kind of statement is that? Catholic Church is, despite your claims, one of the largest religions in the world so how can his time be up?

@NativeNewYorkGuy How can we count something when we can not agree what it is. If we can together define what is and is not a catholic then we can start counting, ok. Do not say to me my claims are baseless and then make your own baseless claims. Can weput aside our differences for one moment please.

@NativeNewYorkGuy I suggest you read this In Rabbi David G. Dalin's controversial new book, he explodes the newly resurrected, widely accepted, yet utterly bankrupt smearing of Pope Pius XII, whom Jewish survivors of the Holocaust considered a righteous gentile.

@NativeNewYorkGuy Hitler was excommunicated ' latae sententiae (automatic, incurred at the moment of committing the offence for which canon law imposes that penalty); There does not HAVE to be a formal delivered message of excommunication. Over 4000 bishops and priests, were killed during the Holocaust, not to mention religious sisters.Pius XII hid Jews in the Vatican and in Rome's churches and convents. The chief Rabbi of Rome converted to Catholicism. DO your research!!!

@SocialistCatholic Benedict XVI knows fully well that the Church in Europe is dying out rapidly and in a cheap attempt is trying to woo those few Anglicans who wallow in dried up tradition. The Anglican is doing quite well. However its dwindling in Europe, the US and Latin America. Convents and Religious Seminaries are consistently closing....so what headway in Africa & Asia? You are quite a dreamer

@NativeNewYorkGuy The Vatican is a corrupt and mundane institution, has been for centuries. And you know it. At one time it enslaved half of Central Italy within "the Papal States" until the Risorgimento in the the mid 19th century when Italy decided to unite and end the abuses. BTW the Pope threatened anyone with excommunication who dared to vote in the newly formed Republic but it fell on deaf ears. His time was up and he knew it.

@SocialistCatholic He was baptized a Catholic, he had a Catholic education ...Why then does the Vatican try to manipulate the Catholic politicians in the US and the Catholic , even though many of those elected officials are just nominal Catholics?
It is an issue maybe not good for your denial and insecurity. The Vatican was complicit and now tries to absolve itself.

The awkward moment when this is not a parody!

@NativeNewYorkGuy He did not lead a catholic life when he grew up so there was no need to excommunicate him. That is a total none issue.
