  • @bronx7542 the problem is in the mentality of people. People create change not the govt. Culture and society is what impulses a country forward. That's one of the reasons among others that Singapore which was a mud pond 50 years ago, is today one of the best city-state of the world.

The economy in the DR is becoming more dynamic and there are huge changes....I know cuz I have seen it with my own eyes.

But then again, what should I know? It's just the place I used to live so....

  • @bronx7542 there are more jobs than before I can assure you that. My aunt now has a job, my cousin who is in UASD (Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo) has a job in a new upscale mall which helps to pay for the things she wants. My other cousin was offered a job but couldn't get it since he didn't get his cedula (id)....so yes more jobs than before.

As I said investments=jobs and growth in the economy. 5 new malls only in Santo Domingo in 2011-2012...thousands of jobs, plus all the other stuff

  • Welfare doesn't help any economy. But, if there no jobs what can you do you have to eat no matter what.

  • @dahousebeats Yea, you think it's easy investing in Cuba with Fidel Castro in power. Unfortunitely, there has not been a Cuban with the Balls to Kill Fidel and his Brother. It almost impassable to do any kind of investment with a country like Cuba who has a Monster by the name Fidel Castro. It easy to say it but it's hard to do. Did you ever think about that.

  • @bronx7542 Poverty is a social problem, and all Dominicans need to help (not just the goverment). Unlike poverty in the US (or even Cuba amigo mio), welfare doesn't help in many cases. The best way is through economic stimulus and social change....which people have to do by themselves (which I doubt, Dominicans have a certain mentality). Progress is here, and its becoming more obvious. After graduating I will go back to Santo Domingo and invest in my country. You should do the same w/ Cuba.....

  • @bronx7542 and you should go to Cuba and kill Fidel Castro to help ALL Cubans. This with the new metro line, tunnels, new highways, elevados, etc helps to alleviate the horrible traffic congestion SD has. This among the economic progress the country has had during several years now is beneficial to all dominicans. I can tell you this is it cuz even my family has been benefited.

Economic development=investments=proyects=jobs=money....which also brings competition and less expensive products, etc
