Band Aid was a British and Irish charity supergroup, founded in 1984 by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise money for famine relief in Ethiopia by releasing the record "Do They Know It's Christmas?" for the Christmas market that year. The single surpassed the hopes of the producers to become the Christmas number one on that release. Two subsequent re-recordings of the song to raise further money for charity also topped the charts. The original was produced by Midge Ure. The 12" version was mixed by Trevor Horn.

  • The truth is one of a kind. There is nothing else like it. Myths try to impersonate the truth. They compare themselves to the truth as if they are the same but they never can be or will be the truth. Lies and deceit try to hide the truth from us, to get us to look the other way but they can only hold off the truth for so long before the spark turns into a glow and the glow turns into a fire. • @Amafixer I think the point is "be grateful that you aren't in that position". They want people to be aware of what's going on, but they also are trying to encourage a bit of humility.

  • @DrownedBeliefs So ... What you say is that: Duran Duran, Boy George, George Michael, U2, Sting / The Police, Bananarama, Kool & The Gang, Status Quo, Spandau Ballet and Ultravox where all without any good selling albums at the very SAME time? That is just .... Unbelievable. There goes the theory..

  • why can't people actully comment about the music :(

  • feed the squirrels! let them know its eating time!

  • @spacebats

No it wasn't. it took all night.

  • It still baffles me how some of the richest and most successful people in the country (at the time) could've stood there and had the nerve to ask YOU to give some money. It's a proven fact that whenever artists release these 'compilation' songs for a 'good cause', their own record sales soar. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that this is why they made this song.

  • I Will Never Stop Loving This Song.
