The train is 3414 and is the first trial of a 159 wagon ore train running in DPU configuration from Esperance to Koolyanobbing for loading. This train consists of Q4017 and Q4014, 53 wagons, Q4016 and Q4008, 53 wagons, then Q4001 and 53 more wagons. The forth loco (Q4008) was running offline and was only there as assurance for the trial. The regular configuration after trials will be 2 + 1 + 1.The train is 1800 meters long and will be close to 16,000 tons once loaded.
The video is being filmed from the crossing loop at Stewart from the cab of loaded ore train 3413 consisting of locos AC4301, AC4305 and AC4306 with 126 wagons, 1400 meters and just under 12,000 tons. This has been the regular length of these iron ore trains until now.
Apologies for the poor quality of the video, it was taken from a mobile phone.

Have they fixed up the problems with the couplings on the ore cars. A couple of years ago we were stuck for hours at Widgiemooltha and again at Norseman when the trains broke in half at the rail crossings.
One of the guys said some of the cars were bought second hand and re-welded to change the length of them. The couplers pulled right out of the chassis of the ore cars causing much drama. I've got some photos I could email if you want.

Wonderful, I really like this one. Would be boring to wait at a level crossing ;•)
