  • Rachmaninov, I respectfully but wholeheartedly disagree. This whole concept of somehow "bruising" the booze is mostly myth. Now if you're talking about the ice masking the flavor of the bourbon, I can kind of go with you there, but I generally make my homemade manhattans with cheaper bourbon, so I like the ice to take some of the edge off of them. Shaking vastly improves a middle- to bottom-shelf drink.

If I'm pouring Makers, yeah, I'll only stir or swirl. It's too good not to, you know?

  • Thanks alot now I'm craving alcohol @ work! I make mine much the same. I use rye though. I feel like the wheaters (like Maker's) are too "soft" somehow. I also omit the cherry juice. Cheers fgts!

  • Good video, I make mine much in the same way and I use Maker's Mark almost always. I prefer shaken because I like the foamy top and don't mind that it's not a clear cocktail. Stirred is okay, but shaken is actually pretty different and it's worth trying if one has never had it that way

  • Hey mickeyboy, never shake a manhattan. Ok?
