It's kind of disappointing that he is so emphatically opposed to people recording his performances.
Surely he must realized that the majority of his popularity is attributable to YouTube and other video bootleg sites.
As a musician, I would be honored to have a fan base willing to record and publicize my music for me. Music is not about dollars and dimes; its about expression... And in the end, watching Jojo's videos online only encourages me to go and watch his live performances.

yeah, I actually intended to (and did) share the videos with just a few friends of mine who couldn't be there.

On his education dvd he starts with saying "Did you buy this dvd?!?!?!?!" My oppinion is that, paying for a show gives him money, but he don't get paid for the education that slips through a video camera and right up on youtube, like with this video. Myself I would get annoyed by the filming, cuz I would think "Why don't you bastards concentrate on listening to what I'm saying, instead of studying a lo-fi video the next day?" I'm sure that's why he says "Fucking awesome" in such an ironic way...

Well, he mentioned it like 3 times, and said "fucking awesome". That pretty clearly indicates that he doesn't want to be recorded without permission.
But actually there wasn't even a chance to ask him if it's okay to record :(
